Rob Hegarty is Managing Partner and Founder of Hegarty Group. He brings over 25 years of leadership in financial services and technology, with a successful track record of launching, building, growing, and running businesses at the intersection of Financial Markets, Technology, and Data.
Rob has led large and small businesses, with deep experience in strategic planning, technology, operational, product, Go-To-Market, and business development roles. He was most recently President of Olmstead Associates, a specialized consulting firm to the investment management industry. Prior to that, Rob was Global Head of Equities for Thomson Reuters where he had overall responsibility for Thomson Reuters’ $1.2 billion global equities business, including all Equities desktop, transactions, data feeds, and analytics businesses, as well as Global Market Structure. Prior to Thomson Reuters, he was Managing Director, Strategy and Marketing at the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, responsible for corporate strategy, planning, marketing, corporate development and market structure. Before that, Rob spent 10 years at TowerGroup, the leading provider of research and advisory services to the global financial services and technology industries, where he launched and led TowerGroup’s Investment Management practice, then led their Capital Markets, Wealth Management, and Insurance practices. Rob also held senior leadership positions at Putnam Investments, Fidelity Investments, and Coopers & Lybrand.
In addition to serving on the boards of public and private companies, and many industry boards, Rob has also been a featured speaker at hundreds of industry conferences and client events globally, been quoted extensively in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, Forbes and many others, and has appeared regularly on CNBC-TV (U.S. and Europe), ABC-TV and other broadcast outlets. He holds an M.B.A. from Babson College and a B.S. in computer science from North Adams State College.
